The plays...

I am an ex-playwright.

I like it even more now -- the structure of plays. The architecture of drama.

Only art, not science, can ask for so much craft.

Technology has the bottom level in its complexity, but the great art -- never.

Shakespeare, Chekhov, Williams -- more understanding brings more complexity. I always feel sad on the openning night, I know that other project is ahead and I have no time to think more about the play, to live with it...

I know that we won't see each other again, but I say -- till next time.

Unlikely I will direct the same script again, I never did, but the departure is sad, because there is so much left to learn about this wonder -- a play.

It has to be a good play. There are many I know. If I want to stage it again, I know that the play has future -- somebody will direct it for me...

Of course, there are many theories behind the simplicy of ordinary words and characters...

Modern Theories of Drama: A Selection of Writings on Drama and Theatre 1850-1990 :
Of course, this is "a short list" and I do not know when I will have time to update it, or to write reviews. Best I can do is to mark the titles with the stars (***** -- highly recommended, five). Most of the books on the market are of questinable quality, but I let my students in Fundamentals of Acting to use everything. (What do you do if they didn't read any theatre books?)
Some I leave without rating, if I don't know them or have no opinion.
